![]() ![]() My first attempt was by downloading Xsplit Vcam, which allows you to replace your background without a green screen. Once you install it, it starts up when your webcam starts, and you can choose it as your video option in WebEx instead of your actual camera. Stage 1: Xsplit Vcam - ($4 per month, PC only) I was accustomed to working in Zoom, which offers a mediocre (but built in) virtual background system. WebEx doesn’t have one for the desktop version, so I started looking. Most of what I found was PC only, but my final (overly-complicated) solution works on Macs as well. I had already gradually built out a nice home office setup during previous jobs, but it wasn’t designed for on-camera work. ![]() To be clear, these thoughts are my own and I am not speaking on behalf of Forrester for the vendors listed in this blog. Newly-hired by Forrester/SiriusDecisions, I needed to set up a professional-looking WFH environment for frequent on-camera meetings through WebEx. However, I am an apartment-dweller with two medium-to-loud children, and the only viable room to hide out in during the workday is my bedroom. So, a virtual background is a must for me. On the bright side, I’m kind of a tech nerd, so this seemed fun. ![]()
